Working With Heka [KRT POST]

How do you work with heka? How can you utilize heka more in your day to day life? Any tips for people trying to get started in using heka?

As a Witch, I tend to work more with energy then anything else, but I have been experimenting more with heka and sigils recently.

My main heka workings tend to be excration rituals. I am fond of writing down whatever I want to excrate, dab a bit of banishing oil to the paper, and either stomp the hell out of it and then tear it up or write it down on two pieces of paper, add a bit of banishing oil to it, slip them inside my running shoes, and then toss ’em in the garbage.

I also like to add a bit of heka into my poetry as well, although I admit I haven’t done so in a while.

If you want to utilize heka more in your every day life, I’d suggest becoming more aware of the power of words. As a writer, I know that what I put down on paper (or even the Internet) has power and I can use it for good or ill.

Knowledge is power. Words are power. They can cut or cure, and sometimes you have to know when it is better to hold your tongue, lest you say something that could destroy another forever.

You can also explore social justice issues, as there’s always a discussion on how media and literature affect PoC, Feminism, etc and you can become more aware of the effect that writing, etc have on our society.

If you want to include it with your spellwork, you can add some sigils too! For example, let’s say that you want to find a job.

Well, you get out your green pen, marker, or crayon and write down what you are looking for in a job (make sure to keep it positive) and draw sigils to enhance your magick and make it stronger.

You could also experiment with poetry or even work on self-care too. For example, if you struggle with self-image, you could write a list of your good qualities and charming the paper and putting it on your mirror so that it will easily be seen when you look at your reflection.

Really, the possibilities are endless and I’d say the use of heka is only limited by your imagination!
